Eight years ago, I ran for this office as a political outsider. I offered Texas voters an alternative at the ballot box, an opportunity to elect a mix of state leaders in Austin that would resolve issues that were important for the future of all Texans.
However, as well as the state has fared during the recession, we don’t have to look too hard to find families in Texas whose future is in peril. Of course, not all people have the same problems. And, of course, the state cannot fix everyone’s problems.
However, we have some elected representatives that only listen to those whose views will keep them in office. While others elected hear the roar of those voices they represent and do nothing because their own voices are muted. The solution to this disconnect is simple. Elect me as the next Lt. Governor, and once all the screaming and hollering is over, I will ask only one question: 'What do the people want?"
Yes, this sounds pretty simplistic, I know. However, the issues we must resolve in Texas are not insurmountable. There is not a single issue we cannot resolve. The important key to shaking things up in Austin is the Texas voter. Ultimately the voters have the duty to send to Austin those to get the job done: candidates that offer fighting words, or leaders that propose results to secure the future of Texas. If you choose results, join us.
